Burger Patty Press

Burger Patty Press

NOTE: Re-upload because Thingiverse made my previous design inaccessible for some reason. NOTE: Because burgers and burger buns in the U.S. use the imperial measurement system, the design of this press is in inches. When importing into a slicer, you can either tell the slicer that the design is in inches or you can scale the design by 2540% to account for the scale factor between inches and millimeters. Looking at burger presses on Amazon, I found two major deficiencies: * They are too small, measuring no wider than 4.5 inches. When the patty shrinks during cooking, it leaves the cooked patty smaller than the typical buns that I use (though they often fit the cheaper buns). * They shape the patties completely flat on top and bottom. When cooking, heat makes the sides of the patty contract toward the center which, when combined with steam released during cooking, causes the center of the burger to swell. I designed this press to remedy both of those issues. This press measures 5 in. (~13 cm) in diameter and has a bulge in the center of the bottom half to compensate for the swelling of the burger during cooking. This results in a cooked patty that is perfectly level, about 4 inches in diameter, and 1/3 to 1/2 a pound in weight.
