St Peter’s pupils remember fallen First World War heroes Descendants of four village war heroes visited St Peter’s School in Burnham on Friday, July 11, to read tributes to their long-lost relatives. St Peter’s pupils with relatives of the Hill boys, who lost their lives in the Great War Pupils from the school in Minniecroft Road are taking part in the Burnham War Stories project - launched by the Burnham Royal British Legion to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the Great War. Their studies investigated the four men from the Hill family who lost their lives in the conflict and whose names appear on the Burnham War memorial. The eldest, Alfred, from Orchard Cottages in Cippenham Green, was killed in action aged 22 with his cousin James, 21. Twins Albert and George both died in 1918 aged 21.
