Butterfly nut for M5

Butterfly nut for M5

A bit similar to the "thumbwheel nut" I previously posted but this one was designed as a replacement for some broken parts on a cheap light stand (http://dx.com/p/603-magnalium-folding-studio-photography-light-tripod-black-max-5kg-164000). Many parameters can be adjusted in the SCAD file in order to customize the part to different needs. Instructions Just print if you have a 8mm nut. Customize and print if you need a different diameter. There are a set of variables in the SCAD file to change the dimensions. After a few tests we settled for 0.22mm layers, 3 shells and 35% infill. Printer in PLA on a Replicator 2. The weak part is the hexagon holding the nut. If you need to tighten the nut hard, it is probably a good idea to properly glue it in place.
