VARIANTS ==================== This post comes with two different versions; the regular C-130J, and the 4.7m longer version of it, the C-130J-30. These parts are the same for the longer and shorter version: - engines - propeller blades - rudder - elavators - rear ramp (optional) - rear ramp lock (optional) These parts are different for the long or short version: - nose - wings - tail (with or without ramp) The designation is also included in the file name. LOADING RAMP ==================== Additionally, for each version you can chose to include the loading ramp or not. Installing the loading ramp is fiddly work due to tight tolerances in 3D-printing, so if you want it easy, just take the version without the rear ramp and print the tail with the name: - C-130J-Tail_no_ramp If you sill want the ramp though, print these parts: - C-130J-Tail - C-130J-Rear_Ramp - C-130J-Rear_Ramp_Lock For the rotational axis of the loading ramp, just cut a piece of 1.75mm filament and glue it to the ramp. The rear ramp lock should prevent the ramp from falling open, but for my two prints the tolerances were so tight that the ramp was fixed anyway. However, to open the ramp, I pull on the lock. All other parts remain the same, no matter with or without the ramp. ENGINE DIFFERENCES ==================== Watch out for the engines! Print "C-130J-Engine_inner" twice, it is the inner engine for the left and right wing. The outer engines are slightly different for the right and left wing (gotta look closely), so keep track of left and right. Print "C-130J-Engine_L_outer" and "C-130J-Engine_R_outer" once each PROPELLERS ==================== To install the propellers onto the engines, straighten a piece of 1.75mm filament and glue it into the propeller. The stick it into the engine hole. Sometimes, the fitting is too tight, so that you cannot rotate it or even stick it in. I used some kind of grinding device to increase the hole size. If you do that, pay attention though. If you make it too wide, the propeller will fall off. MISC ==================== scale: 1:100 completely modeled with blender 2 models printed (both C-130J-30, the long version) After I made the 2 models, I made some slight improvements for this upload. Either use colored filament oder paint your plane. I used overpriced Revell email colors, but I had fun painting it.
