C-3PO Arm Pistons

thingiverse

These are my C-3PO piston designs made to be functional and durable enough for a protocol droid cosplay. They utilize a set screw that slides in the channel of the piston preventing the rod from falling out while still allowing a full range of movement. These are designed specifically to fit in the Jesse_M C-3PO arms from Thingiverse when printed at 100% scale. Jesse_M files here: https://www.thingiverse.com/jesse_m/designs The pistons are designed for a ¼ inch rod, material of your choice. I used brass rods. The rods are meant to be fastened with a 4:40 set screw inside the piston’s channel and inside the nipple. This is in case the print breaks the rod is not glued in and can be reused. The rod will need to be drilled and threaded. To complete ONE arm you will need the following files: Quantity 1 Nipple_Back Quantity 1 Nipple_Front Quantity 1 Piston_Back_Channel Quantity 1 Piston_Front_Channel Quantity 2 Slide_One_Piece Files Piston_Back_Channel_Split, Piston_Front_Channel_Split, and Slide_Two_Piece are meant for FDM printing for stronger print orientations. All others can be printed as SLA. Orientate and choose materials as you see fit.
