C60 Burning Man Art Piece Model

This is a teeny tiny version of a Burning Man art piece named C60. It is meant to be a representation of a Buckminsterfullerene, a molecular structure with sixty carbon atoms, which is where the name comes from. It was built by the group, “Thanks, Bourbon,” and the full piece was made from steal, wreathed in flames, and four feet in diameter. This 3D printable version was designed as a reward for kickstarter backers. The Kickstarter is now closed, but head there if you want to learn more about the piece. If you were one of our backers, FREAKIN THANK YOU! You are the best! And we couldn’t have built such an awesome piece without you. Love, Thanks, Bourbon https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thanksbourbon/c60-burning-man-2017?ref=user_menu Assembly Instructions • You will need to print 20 panels to create a full structure • It’s recommended that you print panels with no support material or rafts • It’s easiest to assemble a 5 piece “flower” and then build from there • The the most important thing to keep in mind is that every opening is created by 5 interlocking panels. It is fairly easy to accidentally make one with 4 pieces • One you have 15 panels connected, it’s easiest to make another 5 piece “flower” with the last 5 panels, and then attach them all at once • The process is somewhat finicky and you will need to bend some panels. But you can do it!
