The sound quality of the logitech C920 webcam can be improved by modifying the plastic covers in front of the microphones. The array of small holes on the original covers is replaced by a full opening for that prupose. The electret microphone capsules are still protected by a dust cover but a piece of thin fabric or foam can easily be added if needed. The side tabs may need to be trimmed and edges filed a bit for a perfect fit. Once in place, the new covers can be secured using the original screws after drilling small holes in the side tabs (search online for the proper procedure to remove the original covers).
