Cable Reel

Cable Reel

Wanted to make a print in place large cable reel. Middle spinner is print in place.

To eliminate all supports I made body in two pieces plus a crank handle.

I was able to fit a 10m (30ft) #14 insulated extension cord. It was a tight fit so Id say 25ft max or longer with a smaller wire size.

Could be used for any cable/cord/string that fits. I have not tried but small Christmas lights should be able to fit as well.

I printed in white PLA (don't recommend white as it gets dirty fast), but should be fine to print in any any material you want.

0.6 nozzle.

3 perimeters (5 on crank posts)

Total print time: 16.5 h - about 450g of filament.

9h - Left body

6h - Right body

1.5h - Crank

Body and crank fit together quite nicely with no glue. Adding a bit of super glue on the post-slots would crate a solid single body.

0.2mm clearance on body connection and 0.4mm on crank.
