Cactus Cat Scratcher

Here is cat scratching post inspired by the Saguaro cactus. All parts were designed using Fusion 360. This design uses 4" drain PVC pipe that can be easily obtained at your local hardware store. Print all parts in PETG. All parts shown were printed with 2 perimeters, 5% infill, 0.2mm layer height. The only exception was the CactusBottomSupport which was printed with 20% infill. 2. Dye rope green as directed per the dye instructions. Rope shown was soaked in dye for 10 min. Allow to fully dry before use. 3. Cut PVC to length desired. PVC sections shown in photo was cut to 36", 8", 8". Remove all burrs and use pattern to mark and drill all holes with a 1/4" bit. 4. Sand wooden base and apply protective coating such as polyurethane. 5. Install heatset threaded inserts into all printed parts 6. Mount CactusBottomSupport to wooden base using 1/4" lag bolts. Holes must be predrilled to prevent splitting of wood. Part can also be though bolted if desired. 7. Assembly all PVC sections to the printed parts and paint green. 8. Attach cactus assembly to base and use hot glue to wrap rope around assembly starting at the base. 9. Add flowers to the top of each branch to hide end of rope and add a touch of color.
