Is it a caliper? Is it a pen? No, it's a caliper pen! Insipred by the coolest branded freebie I've ever seen, this Bic cartridge compatible pen is also a 100mm caliper for those times when you just can't tell the difference between a 20 and 24mm screw! What's more, the pen part is designed to fit a cheap and easy to scavenge Bic cartridge - just make sure to cut it down so it will fit.

To make this, print the top and bottom jaws flat side down. Then, either print the pen body in one colour, or print the pen body and scale with a MMU or 2 material printer. Print it upside down with a big brim unless you like spaghetti, and make sure you pick a layer height that divides into the 1mm scale! If you're using an MMU, you can use the no sparse layers option in PrusaSlicer to really cut down the size of the wipe tower.

To assemble, the jaws will need to bend slighty to fit onto the pen body, but then you can use a drop of superglue to secure the top jaw level with the 0. Then just cut down your pen cartridge, slide it in and you're good to go!

Stay tuned for photos when I finish printing one!
