Camera Tripod Mount for Smartphone

Camera Tripod Mount for Smartphone

thingiverse

This little mount glues to the back of a smartphone case and allows it to mount on a standard tripod. (The pictured tripod is one for motion pictures.) Instructions: The mount requires a case with a flat back and edge, such as one downloaded for your model phone on Thingiverse or sold on the web for as little as 99¢. Glue the mount to the back of the case flush with the bottom edge (get a hard case; silicone cases won’t successfully glue). There’s a recess on the bottom edge that allows for the raised border sometimes found on the commercial cases. It also requires a 1/4” - 20 thread machine nut that fits a standard tripod screw mount. The nut is a tight fit in the hex recess and if you can’t push it into its space, try inserting a bolt through the hole from below, threading the nut onto it, and pulling it in (this insures that it goes in squarely). If your machine produces a print with too tight a fit, increase the size of the print by a percent or two. The only critical size is of the recess for the nut, and a loose fit can be glued in if needed. Place the phone into the case before bolting it to the tripod, and happy snapping! BY THE WAY… I’m glad to freely share my designs, though if you print it and are pleased with the result I would be tickled pink if you returned here and left a small tip!
