Camroc Duo!

In 1966 Estes Industries offered the Camroc, the first commercially produced camera designed to be carried aloft by a model rocket. For most kids it was overly complicated to use and to get good results but the opportunity to see the world from the view of your rocket drove many to send the Camroc aloft.

If you want to read more about the original Camroc - here's a great blog to read
http://www.rcgrabbag.com/archives/estes-camroc-1966

The Duo gives you that classic look of the Camroc but carries two cameras! (hence the name Duo, eh?)

Addition parts you will need.
2 - 808 (MATEcam) cameras - either a dissaembled keychain version or the DYI version (here are some links)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XYQK286/ref=oh\_aui\_search\_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

or

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GQHA744/ref=oh\_aui\_search\_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

1 - BT 50 based rocket (like an Alpha)

OR (build your own rocket with the fin can I've included)

1 - BT 50 (about 8")
1 - BT-20 motor tube
1 - Motor retention clip
1 - Engine block
1 - shock cord
1 - Parachute

I offer a single camera version of the Camroc here.

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3170637

Print Settings

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

.2mm or better

Filament: Amazon PLA black

Notes:

Using CA glue - spread open the support ring and attach it to the camera sled where you see the notches in the middle.
Put the camera pc boards in as you see in the supplied picture and using left over filament - slide it into the holes provided on the camera tray to help secure the camera PC boards in place.

Note: If you have the soldering skills, you create a wiring harness so the two cameras run off of one battery to make the camera even lighter. Of course this will reduce the total record time BUT one battery should be plenty for a flight or two.

Here is a good source of plug connectors for that.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YE0AQS8/ref=oh\_aui\_search\_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Category: Hobby
