The original design had all the right attributes except the guide channels on the sides, which - on my Digital Rebel XTi - need to extend all the way to the end of the battery with the terminals. This is the same design, with those guides extruded the entire length of the body. The original battery spec is a 2s Lithium so about 8.4v fully charged. I'm able to work with a 9v DC power supply, but I would not exceed 9v. You can also build a large, external 2S pack (endlessly large, as parallel as you want!) I don't know if the 10K thermistor (middle pin for temp sensing) is required but I added one between middle and neg/ground.
