This is the rear lens cap for the EF/EF-S lenses. It may be a bit tight in the beginning plus it is roughly estimated measurements. It works for my 18-55mm lens, 50mm macro lens, and the Canon zoom lens 71-210mm. The original Canon lens cap does have a slight angle to increase from 54mm to 58mm in diameter but this is a single diameter top to bottom. The grooves are for better grip. When using please ensure it is attached firmly but not too tight to damage the lens.
