Safely Short-Out Air Conditioning Capacitors- Read Instructions Instructions I needed a small enclosure that had two holes in the ends that I could make a capactior de-energizer for my tool kit to discharge air conditioning capacitors. Once printed, Do not pry it off your heat bed. Let it cool until it naturally pops off as not to bend the ABS as the lid might not fit. Allow plently of time for the project to cool down then pre-fit the lid and using a sanding sponge or the like, sand down all the edges until they are all smooth. Clip your dual clip alligator lead in half, insert them though the holes. Strip the wire and solder the resistor to the leads. Once cool, feed the wires back though the holes and fit the resistor in the box as shown in the photograph. You can apply super-glue, liqiud electrical tape or silicone to hold it into place in the enclosure and also apply a generous amount to the wires and holes to prevent wire movement once it dries. Correctly orientate and apply glue to the lid and snap it into place. Let the glue dry and your done. A good dose of liquid electrical tape over the entire box and a little ways up to wiring make for a good non-conductive watertight test instrument. I have found plenty of uses for this little box. DC lov voltage wiring connections junction box. (splices) Mounting for indicator bulbs needing a see though diffuser. (use transparent ABS) Mounting of mercury and reed switches. Cartridge type glass fuse holder. Project print size: 94.15 x 15.52 x 11.54 P.S. If you need a Microwave Oven capacitor shorting instrument, subsititute a 1K to 20K Ohm ceramic resistor (5, 10 or higher wattage) These can be round or square. You can take one out of an old TV or appliance or buy one at an electronics store or perhaps find one at Radio Shack®
