The Lighthouse of Capo Testa, in in the northern Sardinia, Italy, 41°14'37'N 9°08'39', was built in 1845 as an aid to navigation in one of the most dangerous sites in the Mediterranean sea, the Strait of Bonifacio. The Lighthouse protects the narrow channel within Sardinia and Corsica where strong sudden rising winds, heavy currents and presence oh high granite cliffs are a big danger to night navigation.The model fresnel turning lantern has been made with prisms and lenses and light beam has been realized with different type lights to show a veritable beam.The lighthouse building, including the tower, is 23m high and, due to its position on the cliff, its light has a range of 17 nautical miles.The model includes a detailed landscape, where the buildings have been positioned just a bit closer to the cliff then in reality. The sculpted landscape is env. 150m x 150m while the flat diffused sea is 520m x 335m.
