Car Design Prototype

Most of my students have no prior experience with using 3D printers. For those with Basic skills, remixing and printing a 3D car is quite an accomplishment. For those who have a passion, strong work ethic and catch on quickly, printing a car they designed themselves is a more appropriate challenge. Students of today may someday drive cars that are electric, ride in cars that are autonomous, or be a passenger in a futuristic Uber Skyport. It is important to consider the needs of the people and the technologies involved in designing and manufacturing new cars. Design thinking will involve brainstorming possible solutions, working together, making prototypes of potential solutions and testing those solutions. This project prompts students to work in groups to take an automobile sketch they have drawn and turn it into a 3D object or build a car design from the ground up using basic shapes in Tinkercad. This will enable students to practice skills that will benefit them in STEM careers. This is a remix of a thing contributed by Learning Blade: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1954693
