All credit to Olfoundryman over on YouTube for the idea. If you have not seen his videos, then they are worth a look if you want to see some very valuable trips on metal casting. This is my "Version 2" of the Lugs/Ears for metal casting flasks and include: - Pattern for the Lugs themselves - Jig to help drilling the holes square - Feeder in case you need them to prevent shrinkage - For those with a large enough resin printer, a Pattern Boad with runners and lugs This idea of the design is: - Easy to print and Easy to cast. - Smaller profile so it can be attached to frames down to 40mm heigh. - Uses 8mm partially threaded bolts (cut the heads off and bolt onto the top Lug/Ear). Pick a bolt length to suit your flask. - Can be attached to wood or metal frames. Printing: Nothing special but FWIW: - I printed the patterns of a Resin Printer as it gives a castable pattern without any sanding - I printed the Jib on an FDM printer as it is cheaper When Cutting the Slot on one of the four Lugs, I roughly cut it out then used a file to make an accurate slot. When filing, I kept testing with a bolt till it just fit through the slot.
