Cavalieri's Principle - Objects with Common Base Area

Cavalieri's Principle says that 3-dimensional objects with the same base area and same height will have the same volume. These four objects, a circular cylinder, an elliptical cylinder, a square prism, and a triangular prism all have the same base area and the same height. Students can use sand (or rice, or water) to verify that all four objects have the same volume. Have fun!
