CDC28+CDK4
sketchfab
Sequence alignment between human CDK4 and yeast CDC28 (also known as CDK1) was conducted using UniProt. The comparison revealed a striking similarity of 40.895% with 128 identical positions and 87 similar ones, strongly indicating that CDC28 and CDK4 exhibit significant homology. Further investigation into specific sequences related to the proteins' functions showed extremely strong homology, as illustrated in this image. This suggests that CDC28 performs its role in yeast cell cycle in a remarkably similar way to CDK4. Additionally, certain natural variants of CDK4 have been linked to cancer, making CDK4/CDC28 a promising candidate for cancer research.
