Ceiling bulb lamp shade
thingiverse
I needed a lampshade for our utility room because we have a baby changing table and I didn't want the baby staring right into a light bulb while they're being changed. This consists of three parts: the shade itself, a ring that hangs around the light bulb, and a ring that latches the shade to the ring around the bulb. The design could've been made as one part, but I designed the attachment ring first, then the shade, and leaving them as detachable pieces might be useful for someone who wants to remix this. The key to making this a good lampshade is that the shade is printed in vase mode or "spiralize outer contour" mode. This means that the shade is just a single nozzle-width thick. I used a 0.4 mm nozzle because it was printed in vase mode, which precludes the use of support. The flat bottom was added afterwards to make it look better. If you'd like a flat bottom like mine, just lower it into the bed before slicing. As a lampshade, it blocks quite a bit of light, but our bulb is too strong anyway, so as long as it keeps the bulb from blinding my newborn it's doing its job. I added some sea creatures for flair because mostly the baby will be looking at it, and it turned out great. I think this would look even better printed in a transparent or translucent filament. You may need to modify yours to accommodate a pull chain, although in my case the chain pulls fine with it covered as shown in the photo.
