This will take a 4" round ceiling box and give you holes to mount an outlet. You can then take a blank cover, and cut an appropriate sized hole for your outlet. I used a square outlet to make this easier. Electrical box covers must be fire resistant to be to code, so either purchase one that meets code, or purchase a metal cover to put behind your printed one. *I am not an expert on electrical code, this design may not meet your local electrical code. Use at your own risk or hire a professional electrician.* 1. Before printing, check to see if your box is recessed beneath the level of the drywall, like mine was. Adjust the Y value appropriately. 2. This is for a 4" outlet but the file units are in METRIC. The file is named 2.54 to remind you the conversion! 3. After printing, use pliers to break off the "ears" along the score lines. Test fit outlet, loosely bolt into place with standard electrical screws/nuts (often included with outlet). 4. Attach ceiling blank cover over outlet, using screws to keep things aligned. Trace cut-out on backside of blank. 5. Cut out blank using rotary tool or jigsaw. With either, can be useful to use a drill with a diameter similar to outlet corners, in each corner, to get nicely rounded corners. 6. If outlet is too recessed compared to cover, use washers between outlet and adapter to bring flush. Attach outlet for long-term use. 7. Properly attach wiring. 8. Attach both adapter and cut blank cover to ceiling box using long screws, often included with ceiling blank. (Optional) Use right angle extension cord of appropriate length and surface mount conduit to bring cord to starting point of rope light. I ended up using a "Neon" style LED rope light for the finished product instead of the cheaper one, also pictured . I would recommend something rated waterproof in case of roof/above floor leaks, accidental spills, etc.
