Cello, violin, viola bow from spacers

thingiverse

Various bow spacers for the frog end of violin, viola, and cello bows. I developed these to allow me to continue to use a bow that wasn't developing enough tension (hairs had stretched), but not to the point that the bow needed a rehair. After making a couple I decided to use different filaments and colors. In general you should be able to use whatever filament you have on hand, since these are so tiny that you should not get any appreciable warping even with ABS, Nylon, or other filaments that would otherwise be difficult to print (unless you have an enclosed printer). By layering a few together I was able to achieve unique combinations that not only serve their function but also add a little artistic flair to the bow. Yes, I know, the bow should get rehaired. But a couple cents worth of filament versus a rehair that would cost well over $100 US? Well worth the printing time.
