Basically I added the shims to the original mandrel instead of having to glue or place them while pressing the flat. Second pic is of old version versus the new. I bought a 1/2 inch steel rod to connect the 2 parts with the printed guide holes. there is about a 6mm gap in the middle in order for the guide holes to line up on the flat. Of course the rod will have to be cut down and 2 rods made for the mandrel... then just tap it together with a soft mallet until the holes line up. I was just informed by the original designer that the spacers cannot be merged with the mandrel and will bind when folding if not separate pieces. Ok . since i.ve already made mine... I am going to modify the mandrel to just clear the rails while it folds. It may work ...it may not. it's only money, right ? But if I can make it work, It fits the old trunnion perfectly.
