Chain and Pinions

Chain and Pinions

thingiverse

This test demonstrates a printed chain drive system, but issues such as filament curling and improper step assembly cause excessive tension on the chain, making it difficult to move with a NEMA17 motor. The results indicate that improvements are needed. Apologies for the untested scad file and potentially confusing instructions. Additional photos are available at the provided link, and updates have been made based on user feedback. Changes include easier stacking of pinions and new code; stl files for an example set of pinions are also included. Enjoy! Further updates include a revised scad file with added clearance to assemble a specific model and no need for hole reaming. Print chain plates slowly and without rafts, then assemble the chain using 32 thin and 16 thick plates. File the filament tips, secure with superglue if desired, and adjust the gap parameter as needed for optimal fit. Finally, glue pinions in place using the chain for alignment, print the holder, and assemble everything together.
