You reenter your car from your recent expenditure. You will more than likely put your loose change in your car cup. But how much of that change makes it back to your wallet? This loose car change often just sits in the car and too is much of a hassle to count up and utilize for a new purchase. If you instead opt to exchange this change for dollar bills, you will almost always be subject to a fee which takes some of your hard-earned money away. Thus, the inconvenience of coins can ultimately lower the amount of money you could potentially have. The less money consumers have for purchasing, means lower income for industries that put products forth for sale, therefore limiting our economy from its ideal state. But, here comes the Change-Bot.• Slot for coin insert is in concave area, convenient for dropping multiple coins.• System is designed to fit on a common car cup holder.• The change dropped into the slot is counted by the Change-Bot and the value of coins in the mechanism is displayed on the calculator.• Typing a specific value on the calculator will allow for the system to retrieve that specific amount of coins, and release them into a compartment which can slide out.• If the system does not contain the correct amount of coins needed for the specific value entered, the system automatically calculates the closest possible amount with the coins already in the system.• Calculator is rotatable, allowing both the passenger and the driver to use the calculator more conveniently. Background Research:Since the U.S. Mint produced $4.16 billion dollars' worth of pennies in 2014, that means that as much as $3.08 billion of them will end up dropped on the sidewalk, slipping between the couch cushions or landing wherever else misplaced coins end up [source: U.S. Mint].A Bradenton, Florida, man named Rick Snyder developed what might seem like an odd habit. While on his daily four-hour walk around town to feed stray cats, he stopped at car washes along the way, and poked his fingers into the change slots of the self-service vacuum machines that people use to clean the insides of their vehicles. If you think that would yield an occasional quarter or a dime left behind in haste, you're underestimating our collective carelessness. He found an average of $5.60 per trip, and over a decade amassed $21,495 in lost change, which he eventually donated to a local animal rescue organization [source: Irby].
