Charterhouse Square Corner Door

Charterhouse Square Corner Door

An unusual doorway at the south west corner of Charterhouse Square (and Hayne Street), London. The building at this point is very shallow due to the cutting of the Metropolitan (Underground) railway behind. The railway was built in 1865, destroying the original buildings here and I believe the doorway and newer building were constructed after. This area is currently unoccupied and was until recently part of the Farringdon Station Crossrail construction site. However it is not part of the new station and is expected to be occupied by Charterhouse Square School and Nursery in the future. Date: 1876–7 https://www.british-history.ac.uk/survey-london/vol46/pp242-265 140 photos taken in July 2020 with a Sony a6000 and processed in Reality Capture.
