Checkerboard Box

Checkerboard Box

A checkerboard on a hinged box. The pieces are stored inside. Instructions First, I made the board on Adobe. The board is 11.5 x 11.5 inches. I then used www.boxmake.rahulbotics.com to create the box design. The box is 11.5 x 11.5 inches and 3 inches in depth. Because of the boxes puzzle piece like edges, I had to flatten the top edge using a straight line. I did this so that the checkerboard itself would lay flat on top. Next, I measured medium hinges and placed holes on the board and side where i wanted them to go. The holes must be exact so that the hinges fit correctly. I also made the pieces using Adobe. I made 1.3 inch circles. 32 pieces are needed in all. 16 of each color. 24 of them are not engraved, and 8 of them are. The 8 have kings crowns on them so that they can represent a king in the game. Once I finished all of these designs I printed them using the Epilog Laser. I used 3mm acrylic. All of my vector speeds were 10, power 100, and frequency 5000. My raster speed was 100 and the power was set to 60. I then assembled the box using acrylic glue. To fasten each hinge hole I used a screw, small nut, washer, and bolt.
