When I first saw Kagarov's Ultracompact chess set, I knew I want to print it and give it as a small wedding gift to my friend.
https://www.prusaprinters.org/cs/prints/28518-ultracompact-set-castlechess
But it needed some kind of enclosure or box to keep the pieces.

After a few iterations done just in my head, I decided to create simple cylindrical case with screw cap. You can print two, each with different color, just as you print two different figure sets.
The box is designed for tight fit, so the chess pieces won't rumbple inside. I suggest to insert them "from the bottom" with the box turned upside down, otherwise the pawns may fall of the assembly during this maneuver.

The top face of the cap is flat, so it is easy to print upside down.

There are two variants. "Simple", which served mainly as a proof of concept, and "Stone" with embossed "brick-like" stones around the main body for a little medieval look.
Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo ofthe Stone variant and run out of Prusament Galaxy black to print another before posting this model online.

I included the source files, so you can modify this design, create better looking stones, add windows and gate or some cool logo on top of the cap. Just please mark it as a remix when uploading your changes.
I also had an idea to add some cracks and imperfections using blender, but had no time to even try it. I believe the model would look more realistic that way.

PS: some kind of stackable or bendable chess field to complete the set is also in my mind. Stay tuned

Print instructions

Printed on my Prusa Mini on 0,2 Quality settings with no issue
