Kings to You! This custom designed classic style chess king piece stands over 4.25" tall making it an impressive desk display. The surprise is the engraved words "Kings to You" on the bottom. Inspired by the game Edmond and Fernand had of passing the chess piece back and forth between them in The Count of Monte Cristo 2002 film I created this piece as a tribute to all those times when something goes your way. The STL file is CURA scaled and oriented for printing. This is a slightly tricky object to get to print well. Your bed must be level and the printer head on the tight side for the paper test. Calibrated filament is a must as is a good part cooling fan. It is possible to print this with no support material under such conditions but some clean up will be required to finish off the surface. This is particularly cool looking when printed out of BanbooFill from Color Fabb. I am considering using BronzeFill and SteelFill as well. Print Settings Printer: Rigidbot Big Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.1 mm Infill: 15% - 20% Notes: 0.8 mm sides, top and bottom for strength at the neck. PLA at 190 C with a 60 C bed until 0.5mm then drop to 45 C. Cooling fan on at the second layer and full on at 0.5 mm. BambooFill at 200 C with same bed temps and fan settings. Print speed of at least 50 mm/s to avoid clogs in a 0.4 mm nozzle. Print one at a time for best results. Post-Printing Clean up The underside of the primary collar and the horizontal overhang of the crown will print without supports but will require post sanding to smooth up the surface to match the rest of the finish. Even with retraction on you will likely get some fine hairs with the BambooFill so sanding with 1000 grit paper will polish it up.
