Chess or Ornament Stand

Chess or Ornament Stand

thingiverse

This is designed to store a chess set in an attractive way. The pieces are arranged in a spiral set of shelves. You will need to scale it suit your needs - I think the STL file comes in quite small. This is designed to match the square chess set size at this link: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:34017 Instructions This does not require supports or rafts. The example is printed out at a height, width and length of 150mm. The example in the photos was printed with a Rep 2, so slightly larger than the max size in the Makerware software but it still prints fine except for some stringy artifacts on the top shelf. Not sure what is happening there. Update: I figured out the problem with the top of the print it doesn't have time to cool because the part suddenly becomes smaller. I have since switched to Simplify3D - this program allows smaller parts to be done slower allowing for proper cooling. I also use a a regular house fan once the prints get to the small parts - that helps as well. You will need to resize to suit your needs - I think the STL file comes in quite small.
