This is a case I made for SteedMaker's excellent chess set "thing:34017" , Plus some draughs / checkers pieces. Instructions -Q1,2,3,4 are the four quaters that make up the holder for the pieces. They are 200mm by 200mm each, to make a case that is 400mm sqaure. your printer must print square and accurately, as there is no room for error -draughs1 is a single piece, print 12 in each colour -Chess square is a single piece, 50mm square, print 32 of each colour I use Repetier Host / Slic3r with marlin firmware, 0.38mm nozzle My print settings were; layer height - 0.25 perimeters - 2 top solid layers - 3 4 layers would give a better finish but use more plastic, and take a lot longer to print. bottom solid layers - 0 fill density - 0.05Caution when printing the 4 quaters. I found that to get it to print with such low infill, there was quite a bit of printing over mid air which was a bit messy and sometimes curled up, which the NOZZLE WILL RUN INTO, my nozzle is attached very securly and can handle this. The next layer seemed to smooth it out. I take no responsibility for broken hot ends.** The chess peices are a slightly loose fit into the case, if they printed well. The case itself is made from wood, stained and varnished. 3mm glass for the playing surface - window glass from a broken window cut to size. The sketchup file will show you an exploded view of how it was put together and the dimensions. Except for the internal dimensions, the rest of the mesurements are not critical, you can alter them to suit yourself. I used 6mm MDF for the upper and lower base, a couple of hinges I had lying around I glued the chess squares to the mdf using ados F2 contact adhesive, starting 5mm from the edge as the MDF 410mm and the playing board is 400mm. I glued green fabric (pool table baise) to the underside of the board and wrapped it around the edge slightly. This assembly is held into the frame with the 4 corner fillets which are glued in with wood glue. I also added some feet.Make sure everything is perfectly square when gluing together or the plastic inserts (Q1,2,3,4) will not fit !
