Aftermarket magazine for the Chiappa M1-22 rifle.

I printed this mag upright @ .100 micron layer height with supports (supports only needed for the retaining plate slot). I tried printing one at a .200 micron layer height and it does seem to work but sounds more like a washboard when the follower moves up and down. (.100 microns is much smoother) The rear locking lugs do not need supports. Instead, I added a 40 degree climb working up to them to save material and negate any need for supports. After the print is done, you'll need to cut the angle off with a razor blade, to make the bottoms of the lugs square for proper fitment into the mag catch. Everything is printable except for the spring, you may be able to find a suitable replacement at your local hardware store. I left out the viewing window on the side of the mag. Frankly, I never used it any way, and it's just another way for contaminates to get into the mag.

Removal of the supports can be a bit tricky, but not impossible. I used a dental pick with great success. Also a few spots may need to be trimmed up a bit with the razor blade just to help smooth up the followers flow.

I used Proto Pasta Carbon Fiber PLA for the print and its seems to be working great, Everything fit together very well with very little prep work. Also as a side note... The M1-22's have a set screw for adjusting the amount of play the magazine has while in the mag bay. This set screw may need to be adjusted for more reliable feeding.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

FlashForge

Printer:

Dreamer

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

.100

Infill:

10%

Category: Sport & Outdoors
