Chladni Modes of Vibration

Chladni Modes of Vibration

This is a great experiment, recreating the most famous achievement of Ernst Chladni (1756-1827) who discovered different modes of vibration in plates. Chladni supported plates on a bar something similar to the rendered image, and then rubbed a violin bow along the edge. Sand on the plate would show up these unusual patterns caused by the vibrations. Good to use shell elements... the best shapes appear after 1000Hz (in my opinion). You only need to constrain / fix the plate in the middle and you don't need to apply a load. Make sure the stand is suppressed. Any questions please ask Karl
