Chloroplast Model

Chloroplast Model

thingiverse

Here is a simple model of a chloroplast. It shows the stomata and how they connect, as well as different details I added in such as DNA, ribose, and starch. This is a great model to have in the classroom or just something you can have personally. Printing: I printed the model in 2 separate pieces so I didn't have to add any supports. This way I got a smoother finish. I printed the outer shell first, then the connecting granum. I glued the thylakoids to the chloroplast membrane with gorilla glue (I flipped it upside down first so create the illusion of the thylakoids floating in the stroma). I changed the print settings so it would give me the fastest print possible. I wasn't worried about sturdiness due to this being a model. After printing, I painted it green and added some filament that dripped off my printer to mimic DNA. I also took a hole puncher and made little ribose and sugar in the chloroplast. Dimensions: 35mm x 27.19mm x 35mm
