Christmas Tree Topper Star Base

This is a base module that substitutes for one of the points in the excellent 12 point hanging star: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:35866 and makes it a tree topper. Parametric OpenSCAD file attached so you can customize for your tree or bulb. Docking pentagonal ring fits star as is. Vent holes double as branch tip slots. Bulb slot for single E27 LED spot. Tweak as needed. Print Settings Printer: Flashforge Creator Pro Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: sparse Notes: Print right side up (large opening down). I printed the star points in natural translucent PETG. Beautiful design, easy print. This piece printed in green ABS. Raft recommended for ABS, probably not needed for PETG or PLA. Infill set at 20%, could be lower. No support needed. I made it heavy, worried about heat stress, but the LED "bulb" puts out so little, you could lighten it up. USE LED BULB ONLY! NOT RECOMMENDED FOR INCANDESCENT BULBS! Plug it in for a few hours and satisfy yourself that the heat isn't a problem before you put it on your flammable Christmas tree. I can hold the bulb I'm using in my hand comfortably when at maximum temp. Have fun. Post-Printing Print 11 points and glue them up. CA adhesive would work. I really recommend Quick Grip instead. Then print this piece to fill the gap. Designed to hold a 3W RGB color changing LED E27 base bulb. I got mine on Amazon for under $6 with IR remote. Vent holes double as mount holes for tree tip branch (your tree may vary). I also used a low profile light socket plug to connect to light string (see pics), also from Amazon. Socket screws on below bulb mount, holding everything in place. This was maximum height my printer could handle.
