Chuck And Charlie the Cupcake Phone Cases!

myminifactory

Meet Chuck And Charlie the Cupcakes'! They replace your boring original Cyrcle phone case with a cute and fun looking cupcake! The internal design is pretty much the same as the original, except that where there are gaps surrounding the ports, there it's tape and putty covering any gaps, so the only gaps would be a port (possibly water resistance feature?) Tactile bumpers disguised as sprinkles increased surface area of the buttons allowing it to be more easily pushed if needed to. (See Renders) The base's surface area is also slightly increased which allows the phone to be more succesfully sat upright, allowing users to video-call their friends hands free! I printed and coloured two models, the one on the left (with the lighter brown cupcake holder) was coloured with render pens, whilst the other was airbrushed as much as I could. *slight errors and disclaimers* the front speakers at the bottom of the front part should be hollow; holes that do not need direct inteference (ie not audio jacks or sim card slots) should have a mesh behind them to allow sounds to pass through but to stop water from coming into the device. The wall of the original case, which is the skeleton for this one, is fairly thin and requires more than 2 walls with a standard 0.4mm nozzle to increase strength when removing support in post processing. The Idea:I came across this competition whilst browsing models to print on my printer, and then saw the competition. At first I thought I could do something until I saw the freedom the competition gave me. I was estatic and immediately began drafting ideas for all different sorts of aesthetics (ranging from improving the design for motor impaired people to fun and first-phone cases for kids). It was whilst I was drawing up ideas for a kids phone that I thought of a cupcake. Sketched the first design, coloured it in.. and began my merry progress of a few (definitely more :( ) hours in Fusion360. As I began to make the form for the upper part, I messed up slightly and decided to cover it with a cartoon face: this is where Chuck and Charlie were born. The brilliant part about this design is that it can be slightly altered to allow different expressions, or even different faces onto the back. The tactile buttons on the top are for increasing accessibility for motor impaired users: in my A level Product design course, I focused on visual impairment, and decided to bring what I know about impairment devices and implement it.I hope that even if this doesn't get picked, that you guys will print the model out and have it in your offices!
