Chuck Finger Guide For TIG Welding

Chuck Finger Guide For TIG Welding

I TIG weld a lot of small fittings in a little chuck. Often I would stabilize the torch and my hand by running my little finger along the side of the chuck as it rotates. But seeing as the chuck has grooves for the jaws to slide in and out, my hand would often bounce as my finger slides over them. To stop that, I created this finger guide that slides over the chuck and gets held in place by the jaw grooves. I've been using it for almost a year now and even though I made it in PLA, it's still in like new condition. I've been very happy with how it helps out. On my chuck it works with any pipe 1/2" or smaller. The chuck I use it on is a 5 inch diameter chuck (measures about 5-3/16 outside diameter) with jaw slots that are 7/16 wide by 11/16 deep. Even if this doesn't fit your chuck, maybe it will give you ideas as well.
