This thing is used with a chuck on the lathe to clamp a short part away from the chuck front surface. The holes in the arms can be used to mount mgnets to hold it against the chuck face. Spiders for both 3 jaw and 4 jaw chucks are provided. Iges files are also given to allow the user to alter sizes.
