Circular fan-duct for blower for my custom carriage
thingiverse
Circular fan-duct for blower designed specifically for the common 50x50x15 Sunon blower. The blower is secured with a snap-in fitting that eliminates the need for screws. The circular fan offers several benefits, including a confined, symmetrical, and downward-facing airflow that creates no dead zones. This can be seen in an investigation by Desi Quintans that demonstrates the effectiveness of this type of airflow. In contrast to surround ducts investigated by others, this duct features a tightly focused airflow that is similar to both sharp nozzles and surround types. Radial fans are preferred over axial fans for high-flow-resistance ducts like this one because they produce lower airflow but higher pressure. [Update] A new version (v2) of the fan-duct has been added with an additional mounting option, allowing users to pull up the duct on the back side using a rubber band or string. Another version (v3) cools the throat of the hotend while also reducing throat cooling by incorporating a throat nozzle. Print Settings * Supports: No * Notes: Printing circular openings can be challenging; printing cold helps achieve good bridges. I print with PLA at 175°C. * Proper printing orientation must be selected. Post-Printing Cleaning small circular openings with a tiny metal screwdriver may be necessary after printing. Design Decision The fan-duct is designed to keep output openings close to the nozzle, cooling only freshly deposited filament while avoiding the hotbed and nozzle.
