CIVIVI Elementum Knife Backspacer

CIVIVI Elementum Knife Backspacer

This is a custom backspacer that I designed for the CIVIVI Elementum pocketknife. There are two versions; one with a lanyard hole, and one without. The one without the lanyard hole lets you add an additional spot of color to the knife. I printed at a .15mm layer height, and got smoother results when I set Cura to slice with a .35mm line width instead of the default .4mm that is typically used with a .4mm nozzle. Your mileage may vary. If the material you are printing with is sufficiently flexible, you should be able to snap the backspacer into place without even loosening any of the bolts. Some PLAs are much more flexible that others in my experience. Sometimes loosening the bolts where the backspacer goes is enough to let you snap it in, sometimes you will need to remove one pair of those bolts and loosen the pivot bolt as well so that you can slide one side out of the way to insert the backspacer. I'll might create a version with ridges along the outside for improved grip, but I'm not really interested in using that myself at this point. If you'd like that option, lemme know in the comments. If you are unsure how to go about taking apart your knife, this YouTube video will show you what you need. https://youtu.be/D-ZMDlO_HN0 Please posts makes/photos of your own knife with the backspacer in place if you can. I'd love to see how it looks.
