Maria do Carmo dos Santos, but known as Neguinha, put her hand in the clay when she was still small. His first creations were the traditional clay pots, widely used at the time for cooking. Neguinha was born and raised in Belo Jardim, in the Agreste region of Pernambuco, where he still lives with his family. At the beginning of her career, she disbelieved in her work, as she thought the city was too “stable”. Over the years Neguinha experienced several changes in her work after meeting Ana Veloso, who at the time was coordinator of the Estado de Arte project at the Belo Jardim Secretariat of Culture. Today, she makes Catholic saints, utilitarian and decorative pieces, including platters and chickens. Neguinha has been a member of Alameda dos Mestres da Fenearte for seven years.
