Clay Target Thrower

Clay Target Thrower

grabcad

Made with Autodesk Inventor 2014 as a Dynamic simulation. The main action is due to the imposed rotation of the Rotating arm at the beginning, and due to the gravity force afterwards. The construction is classical and was taken from the presentation film: https://youtu.be/0b9rtuFweZA. After modeling the parts (more or less approximate, of course, since the presentation movie was all information I used) and creating the assembly the settings were made for Dynamic simulation. They are all there, in the iam file, but some words are welcome, I suppose. The Rotating arm is brutal accelerated at a rotating speed of 3000 deg/s (500 rot/min) in 0.01 seconds, then it stays at this speed for 0.07 seconds and stops in 0.01 seconds. A force is applied normal to the clay target in order to be launched at a greater speed. As you can see, all action takes only 0.32 seconds. Sometime in the future I intend to add a big spring and to reproduce totally the real functionality, instead of imposed motion to the rotating arm. If someone has got such a thrower, I kindly ask him/her to make pictures with all the details, by using a marked line to capture in the pictures (millimeters, centimeters are preferred) - thank you in advance! As usual, if you work with Inventor you will find all the .iam and .ipt files so you can download them to enter Environments / Dynamic simulation and see for yourself what's happening. You will have all the settings at your will, so you can change everything. Enjoy!
