So here I present my design of Smart Parcel Terminal (SPT) for Cleveron. It is a locker-like device that allows people to quickly and easily send and receive small packages. The main features and up-gradations done in this design are as follows:- - SPT has sliding drawers rather then the conventional hinged doors. - An electric lock is used which has voltage supply within the range of +5VDC to +30VDC and current rating of 0.3A which comes under the mentioned values. -The electric lock has two connections, out of which one comes from the micro-controller that controls and the second is the power supply wire. -There is a manual override switch in case of any problem. Also the lock gives a kick- out of 3 inches enough for the user to pull the drawer. - Ball bearing slides have been used to reduce the squeaky noise and for smooth opening and closing operation. -3 Part Ball bearing has been used for 3/4th extension. -The Drawer is made up of sheet metal rather then plastic because steel is more durable then plastics. -The Drawers can withstand 45 Kg of weight and can accept bigger parcels as compared to the conventional drawers. -In case of severe damage to the terminal, steel can be repaired but on the other hand plastic has to be changed completely. Also there is need to frequently change the location of terminal, weight isn't of great consideration. - To prevent the user to put over-sized parcel there is a lid on the top of drawer with an attached spring which will push the lid upwards. -So when the drawer is pulled the lid pops up and when the parcel is placed the drawer is simply pushed to close and the lid gets closed. If any over-sized parcel is used then it will obstruct the lid to close hence the drawer wont be closed. -The lids also helps to prevent third party access to above/below drawers. -Two magnets have been placed on either side of the drawer which assists the user to close the drawer in a simple push. -To prevent any damage to the terminal, when the user tries to close the drawer with a smash, two thin rubber pads are attached to the frame. -Now keeping in mind about the ergonomics, the whole design is user friendly for all the age groups and for older/small height group of people a separate opening in the top drawer has been made, which makes easier for them to access the parcel. -For convenience of the user a tray has been placed to keep either the parcel or any of their things while operating the machine. -The drawers are firmly attached to the slides with the help of screws which can be taken out only when the drawers are kept open. I guess all the problems have been solved by considering the production point view, but as no design is ever perfect I will be working on this design until I get a satisfaction. UPDATE:- 1) The top two drawers are replaced by electronic lock door system as it will assist the user to pick and place the parcel. 2) White color drawer is used to have a clear view inside it. This is the maximum detail I can achieve as my laptop works slow and also hangs a lot when max parts are assembled together.
