This is a toy I had when I was young but made from wood. I wanted to give the same thing to my son so I looked around for designs for one and found this instructable http://www.instructables.com/id/Antique-Toys-Rope-Climbing-Bear/ Designed in Google Sketchup Bear rev1 is a bit different with thinner handholds. Instructions Just attach 2 lengths of #18 string to your desired length, tie loops at the end for handles and one short section to connect it to a hook in the ceiling and you are done. The coarse white string should work a bit better than the slick string I am using (polyester?).
