With numerous cases coming in for my CNC router bits, I needed a uniform solution that would allow me to label each bit with my library code and instantly identify the correct one to use. This enclosure also offers the added benefit of making it easier for me to insert the bit into the chuck uniformly, which means I can perform bit changes without having to re-zero the Z-Axis afterwards. Notice how these two bits, one overall 2" in length and the other overall 2.5", are recessed into the black piece, allowing me to set them into the chuck uniformly. I hold the bit like this in the palm of my hand as I insert it into the chuck, then use the tip of my finger to engage the chuck-lock. With my other hand, I use a wrench to tighten down the chuck. This setup also provides the added advantage of protecting me from potential injuries caused by bit changes.
