Cobblebot - Chimera Mount

Cobblebot - Chimera Mount

thingiverse

This is a mount for the Chimera for the Cobblebot standard mount plate. You need to turn the plate vertically (which works better for the wheels and bearings that are used). It includes a holder for an 18mm induction sensor. You need to use 4 x 20mm M3 screws and 4x 20mm M3 lock nuts to install the plate to the mount. You also need 3 x 16mm M3 screws to install the Chimera to the mount. Print Settings Printer: Cobblebot Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 50% Notes: I made this using Makergear PETG @ 240 degrees How I Designed This Created in OpenSCAD I realised that thingiverse is full of mounts for the Prusa i3 and I had to design a new mount any time I wanted to install a new hotend on my cobblebot (this is my third). So I decided to create an adapter plate that would enable me to use the prusa i3 mounts on my cobblebot. The first version was a quick design in OpenSCAD and just included holes to match the cobblebot plate and 4 holes to match the prusa i3 mount - so I could basically print a prusa mount, screw it to the adapter place and then screw the adapter plate to the cobblebot. In time, I realised, I could simply import an STL into OpenSCAD and that's what I did for this version, thereby reducing the need to screw the actual mount to the adapter plate. The actual mount now became part of the model. Also, this is more compact than version 1, giving me a larger print area. I have included the OpenSCAD source (which is pretty simple) so that anyone can create more mounts for the cobblebot. You need to ensure that the STL you're importing is in the same folder as the OpenSCAD file. In this case it is: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:661185
