I have tried many different hotend coolers on Thingiverse, but was not really satisfied with any model. ### Introduction The following properties are necessary for me: > 60 mm axial fan with high airflow to prevent the heat from rising into the Teflon tube even during prints over days with case interior temperatures of over 60 °C (the fan can still be dimmed, but for me a buffer in the upper power range was important) > > Optimized for the MicroSwiss Hotend > > Cooling limited to the hotend only with the airflow diverted upwards > > Fixed and stable mount > > Low projection of the hotend cooler with minimal installation depth > > Lightest possible weight > > Mounting for the BlTouch in the place originally intended by Creality to avoid having to correct the X-, Y-Offset > > Use of a 40 mm axial fan as a component cooler (cheaper, wider range of products and often longer life) > >Precise cooling of the component without all the completely unnecessary and exaggerated gimmickry that has <b>no discernible effect</b> on the printed image > > Simple mounting due to M3 injection nuts ### Printing Finding the right position for printing is difficult. Either way, unfortunately, a lot of support is required. I decided to print the cooler standing upright, which has been my best experience. I recommend using heat resistant material like ASA or ABS to prevent long term thermal deformation. A layer height of 0.2 mm with a filling of 20 % show good results. A total of eight M3 injection nuts are needed to mount the fans and the BlTouch (four for the 60 mm fan, two for the 40 mm fan and two for the BlTouch). I have provided 4 mm blind holes for this purpose. I have had very good experience with injection nuts from [Ruthex](https://www.amazon.de/Gewindeeinsatz-Gewindebuchsen-Einpressmutter-Kunststoffteile-Ultraschall/dp/B08BCRZZS3?th=1 "Ruthex"). Additionally (depending on the fan) four M3x25 mm and four M3x15 mm screws are needed. In addition, I have constructed a small holder for three 5 mm LEDs that can be mounted directly on the 60 mm main fan and illuminate the print. I have provided a small cable gland for the ribbon cable, so can be laid nicely. ### Assembly > First remove the support material. > > Then melt in all injection nuts. Ensure a flat surface, especially for the BlTouch, and regrind if necessary. > > When mounting, first push in the groove on the right and then tighten the two screw connections on the left. For easier assembly, an opening is provided for an Allen key. > > Finally, mount the fan and BlTouch. #### Mk I, 2021-03-17 First model in long-term test #### Mk 2, 2021-04-06 Improvements: > Generally improved airflow onto the heat sink. The system is now more open with side air outlets. > The air flow is now also directed to the heat break and prevents the formation of a blockage there.
