Measure coffee beans right from the scoop! This functional print is a weighting scale disguised as a coffee scoop, use it to measure coffee beans and more! # BOM - 1x each .stl - 6x M3 x 16mm countersunk bolts (longer ones if not countersunk) - 6x M3 nuts - A Sharpie and a syringe (or other known volume) for calibration # How to print Print one of each .stl at 20% infill. The spoon should be printed with the handle laying flat, the fulcrum should be laying on its side and have a brim, while the counterweight should be printed with the nut holes facing up and countersinks on the bottom. The scoop has a bit steep of a overhang but printed nicely on my stock Ender 3 Pro without supports at 0.16mm dynamic layer height and 75mm/s speed. The counterweight should be a snug fit, sand the spoon as needed util the desired snugness is met. # Calibration A sample PDF is provided with my measurements, ready to be printed and glued to the spoon. I printed in a colored A4 sheet and cut it to size, using common packing tape to fix it. For determining your own calibration scale, use water in a syringe to get measurement points. - Add 5mL of water to the scoop - Find balance point and mark it - Add 10mL of water - Find balance point and mark it again - Measure the distance betweet the two marks (in cm) - Find your scale (in grams/cm) by dividing your measurement by 10. - e.g The spacing between 5mL and 15mL was 3.4cm, therefore you should mark a gram every 0.34cm. This is important because every filament and infill setting may result in a different weight distribution, so without performing calibration first the scale would be useless. # Safety This print should be safe to use with whole beans, however care should be taken with ground beans/other porous materials. Please use food-safe PLA if measuring anything porous. # Liked this design?
