Coin Sorter and Counting/Wrapping Tubes

My wife needed to count quite a bit of change for a school fundraiser where all the children brought in as many pennies as they could on Monday, followed by nickels on Tuesday, Dimes on Wednesday et cetera, et cetera. Ultimately I know she was going to have to count several hundred dollars in change. I did a quick search on Thingiveerse and did not really find anything that would meet my needs. The closest item was the Coin Sorter and Counting/Wrapping Tubes by HPaul, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:11322, but they were designed for a very small print bed and required several glue ups. I also noticed in the comments that there were alignment issues. So I decided to quickly design my own. This project prints four sorting trays and four counting tubes for US quarters, nickels, pennies and dimes. The counting tubes have a funnel to quickly channel the coins into the counter, and an overflow slot when you reached your proper count. The trays have chamfers on top and bottom so they easily stack and lock when shaking/sorting. When making the slots on the coin counting tubes, I opted not to use supports. I ended up folding up some card stock and literally holding it against the tube at the right time, and allowing the printer to print on the paper 6-8 laps before I tugged he paper away. It worked surprisingly well.I'll try to record a video of the technique. This was designed and printed using ABS. I chose to color code the rays and counters for simplicity. I used a 40% fill as is a habit for me on my designs. Print Settings Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: .2 Infill: 20%-40% Notes: The slots on the tubes may need support. I simply hold a piece of card stock up to the print when it reaches that phase, and manually support the print for two-three laps around the tube. After that it can do its own thing.
